Initial Server Configuration steps

At a glance server configs that need to be set for new servers

Download the installation package and run the setup.exe

Download the install package from WTSSoftware or using the link provided to you. Un Zip the installation package and run setup.exe. There are may installation types and you may need to work through the install process depending on your installation. The application uses may Microsoft DLL files and the registratio and update of these files may slow the install process, In most cases either keep your origional files or click ignore.

Once you have run the system it will go through a series of starts and restarts as it downloads from WTSSoftware update configuration files. This is normal, however if the system has stopped the process and does not open up the server Settings form, then please contact support Contact . We will walk through the install process manualy.

Local Netowrk Configuration where the server is installed on.

1. Set your server to a static IP whether public or private. If your using private IP's make sure you enable DMZ on your internet router. See ports to forward faq2018. Or better yet use DMZ operation on your router.
2. If your server has firewall software please open ports on the firewall by this listing. faq2018
3. WiAd server ships with DHCP enabled. If the system you have installed this package on is assiginging IP addresses via DHCP, Immediatly Either disable the DHCP in WiAd server Edi>Settings>Site Specifi, by unchecking DHCP Server, click save on the form then restart from the main menu. The DHCP options are described in the FAQ's for more complex systems.

Go to rules and save

Load the Zone rules window. And save the current rules, use the default title.

Change node to net second level domain.

If you company is nedsnetworks.net then your node name is NEDSNETWORKS. All caps. Leave Wkgp/Domain as is, it is not the same as Windows Workgroup or Domain.

Change nearest ad server to machines web listening IP

WiAd Sever runs best on static IP's but will run on private IP's as well . Change your nearest Ad Server IP the the Public IP that appears as Web Listening IP.

Have WTS make rule set

Your rep will have configured a custom set of rules. If this was done then load the rules per the FAQ's on rules and save.

Under email setting add valid email addresses.

Add the notification email names of your network where needed. The system will send out variuos notices to you, chage these email settings As soon as possible. This is done in Edit>Settings>Email Options.

Quck Configuaration for ad serving.

If your anxious to see the server work on your network, from tools select 'Configuration>Set Stand Alone AdServer'. This tool will chage most if not all settings on your server to a default AdServer mode. You will be able to modify your custom settings later. More help on quick config is at faq2027.
