Understanding Flushing

Flushing caches in your test Computer..And Mabye even your Test System<

Flusing your test system

To do a true test and resolve an ad resolving issue you must compltely flush your system of any cached information. This includes web pages, images, and dns settings. Since your system may have kept an old version of any of these tidbits of info, you may not see a test situation repaired, if using old information.

Test computer DNS

On windows this is done easiest by right cicking on the network icon and selecting "Repair". This removes any old IP addresses you system may have for a domain, In this system under test we might change a domain IP on a rolling basis faster than the current DNS servers set Cache time. Or download our support application to the Test/User PC AdaptorConfig and select flush DNS from the Tools Menu

Browser Memory

Any open browser may cache Images and or IP's for domains while open, eventhouh the OS has flushed its DNS cache , so best to just close out all browsers under that browser software and restart

Browser File Caching & Cookies

Most sys admins are aware of this, but to be on the safe side, if your test involvles images or cookies its sometimes just best to delte all images and cookies. Prior to the next test. Of couse most browsers have the option to reload the page each refresh. But they have been known to break this rule though the settings were set. So if you delte all of your temp Inet files. They you can be save to assume that theres no old copy on hand to interfere with the test

The test System

In some cases your test sytem might even need flushing. see this guide on flusing your test system (Future Link will be here)

In Conclusion

If your testing an adcompatability or othe issues the previous flushed will help guarantee that your getting the correct test results, In some cases you may not need to take all of the steps above but be aware that before you file an suport ticket you might try the flushes above. Its important that we know all issues, and welcome all imput, but it you can help determine the accuracy of your test report by making sure your working from a flushed system. you can greatly speed up all test development issues.
